Rain

Post by Joseph Liebgott on Oct 7, 2009 17:27:02 GMT -7
Sprinkling drops of water cascaded across the main dirt road connecting the barracks with the main headquarters, and Liebgott, for one, was not particularly thrilled.
It wasn't that Joseph didn't like rain, he did. Back in San Fransisco, rain meant that the cool winds of the ocean were blowing in, and that meant that the weather would be nice for the next few days. He had liked to watch thunderclouds roll in from the west, they brought clapping lightning and ground-shaking thunder. He hadn't minded the rain then.
But now, in the middle of his training at Camp Tocccoa, rain meant that they trek up Currahee that was scheduled for the next day would be more grueling than usual, the water would collect as mud up on the hill and would make for an unpleasantly slippery and messy experience.
He cursed under his breath as the first drop of liquid fell, not bothering to shield his face. He watched the sky for a moment, wondering if the rain would cease without a downpour of momentous proportions, but he was proved wrong as the thin sheet of water grew thicker and more dense. Liebgott grudgingly accepted the inevitable fate of a once-dry Currahee and decided to sit down on a cart of something, allowing the rain to pour across his body and soak his clothes.
He had needed a shower anyways.

Rain

Post by Carwood Lipton on Oct 9, 2009 16:02:31 GMT -7
Carwood loved the rain. Whether he was here at Camp Toccoa, or back home in Huntington West Virginia. Of course, Currahee the next day would be far from pleasant.. but right now, it was worth it.
He took off his helmet and headed out for a nice walk in the rain, assuming no one else would be out there. After all, most soldiers spent all of their free time sleeping, which was understandable. Being a paratrooper was [/i]no[/i] easy task. He left the barraks, and took off his helmet before doing so. He walked around the big hill and spotted Liebgott, who was sitting on some sort of cart. He put his wet hair back with his hand, and water continued to pour over his face, and he walked up to him, waving.
'Hey Lieb!'

Shifty stood at the door of the barracks, looking out at the falling rain, which splattered onto the ground, instantly turning into mud. Shifty hated mud. He ran through it several times a month. Three miles up, three miles down. Slipping and sliding, sometimes falling into it, and getting the disgusting stuff all over his clothes. " Rain." Was all he said, though to no one in particular, as he continued to look out the door.

Roe stepped out of the barracks next to Shifty to enjoy the rain. He missed the cool feel of it but dreaded to mugginess the heat would later bring from it.

Shifty felt the presence of another person, and turned to see Doc Roe. " Ready to run Currahee?" he asked, a smile appearing on his face as he looked to the other male, who seemed to be enjoying the weather.

Shifty grinned. "I am. But I like it better in the sun." He didn't mind running that big hill, just the fact that Sobel made them do it in full pack, and sometimes at night, when it was hard to see, and many of the men tripped and injured themselves.

"Well for starters Dog company's medic has appendicitis and we've been taking over there injuries as well. Speirs sprained an ankle yesterday because of some stupid private's mishap. He gives me and Spina the creeps. The others are just as freaky but nicer than him. Anyways... moving on. We're overbooked at the hospital."

Both of Shifty's eyebrows were raised now, at all the stuff Roe had on his plate. He didn't realize there was so much the medics had to do. " Gald I'm not a medic." the young male said after a moment, with a grin.
