Joe let out a chuckle at the thought of Evans running Currahee. The poor bastard wouldn't make it halfway, if even that. Though it wouldn't hurt the army if he decided he wasn't the paratrooping type. Which he wasn't.
" I'd rather run Currahee ten times a day than be Sobel's lap dog. Evans is right where he belongs. He don't belong with the men." Joe spat, his tone much darker than it had been a few seconds before. He hated cowards more than that damn hill, and that was saying a lot. He was thankful there were no cowards in Easy. Well, other than Evans. But he doesn't count as part of Easy, at least in Joe's book.

He was sure Sobel had one. With the looks the guy always gave them? No doubt he was imagining beating them with it. Or at least that's just what Skip pretended he was thinking. It was payback, Sobel just didn't know it. "Don't understand why he hates us so much though." He grumped, and crossed his arms indigently over his chest, nose wrinkling. "Not that I care much what he thinks of us, because his opinion is like a fly on the wall. Any theories?" He whipped his head about to look at him, content to find his mind was beginning to stop it's constant flow of thought.[/ul]

"Hey! What are you two doing up this late of night?" It was Roe. He'd heard voices when he'd left the Camp's dispensary where Sobel had ordered him to take a detailed supply check. He had just finished when he heard some unknown voices trailing from Currahee. He'd checked the barracks and discovered Skip and Toye's beds empty.

Babe was tired but at the same time he couldn't sleep. He sat up in his bunk and looked around at the other men sleeping away, feeling slightly jealous. He quietly got out of bed and stretched, then sat back down on the edge. He then heard some voices and wondered where they were coming from, but couldn't be bothered to get up to see where they were coming from.

Joe opened his mouth to respond, but paused when he spotted Roe walking towards them. Were they really that loud? " Just gettin' some fresh air, Doc. What're you doin' out here?" Joe asked, leaning forward from the tree and moving so that he was sitting Indian style. Roe usually wasn't awake at this time of night. He was one of the soldiers who could actually sleep.

It could've been taken as a grim comment, but, he meant it in good humor. "If you can sleep, you should sleep. Take the chance. Seriously. I'll hold it against you if you don't." He maintained the grin but made the effort of inserting humor into his voice, to make sure the medic knew that he was simply teasing. He wondered to himself if anyone else would join them. Pretty soon, it'd be a shindig and that would be just the finest thing.[/ul]

Joe laughed slightly at Skips words. This guy never knew when to quit, and that was something Joe admired in the man. His sense of humor was comparable only to Luz, the other Easy joker.
" Aye, Skip, can I get another smoke?" he asked, turning to look at Skip, but ended up looking about a foot past him. This damn lighting, it was screwing with his brain.

Babe then decided to go outside to Currahee, the fresh air might due him some good. He didnt care at this point if he got caught. He quietly put his clothes on and quietly exited the barracks and headed outside. Once he got to currahee he heard voice and saw a couple of guys but couldnt see their face from where he was standing at the moment.

He tossed the pack at the other man, and he idly hoped that the trajectory hadn't been for his head or something. Nice night for smokes in the eye, huh? Not. He took the one he'd put behind him earlier, and lit it, tossing the light towards Toye as well when he caught sight of another silhouette. Couldn't be Sobel. But... "Holy shit, Doc, Sobel's right behind you!" He reached out to tap Toye's knee in a very follow my lead, man fashion, with-holding a chuckle. Whoever the mick really was, he wasn't quite sure.[/ul]

Babe quietly walked closer not saying anything just yet, because heard the other guys mention Sobel. He was surprised none of them have got caught yet, knowing it could happen at anytime. But Babe had to admit it was a beautiful night, and he was going to enjoy it while he could. He knew he was going to catch the others by surprise and it brought a smile to his lips.

Joe gave Skip a quick glance, agreeing to go along, before changing his expression to one of apprehension. " Better get down, Doc, or say goodbye to your weekend pass." Joe said quickly, before leaning forward and laying on his stomach so that he was just below the brush line. He knew it wasn't Sobel...or at least he hoped it wasn't.

Babe walked over to the guys and quickly recognized who they were. He hoped he wouldn't scare them, but since he wasnt Sobel would be a relief. "what you are guys up to at this hour of the night?" He teased and sat on the gound. "Happy that i'm not Sobel."

Roe couldn't help the funniness of the situation and all of a sudden broke out in laughter.

Gentle teasing was his nature. More so by nurture, really. His father, mostly. "Hey, Babe. You can't sleep either?" Jeez. It seemed it was more than just him. Why hadn't he known! He would've made arrangements for tea and biscuits and even a club - yeah right. Amused - once again - by his own musings, he took a drag, chuckling. What a night. "Personally, I'm glad you're not Sobel. He would make us run this hill right now I bet if he came across us." To avoid the irony of this actually happening, he reached behind him to knock on the closest wood he could get - the tree.[/ul]

Joe nodded to Babe, before maoving to sit upright, leaning back against the tree like he had been. When Roe broke out into laughter, however, Joe couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. It was rare to hear Doc laugh. He was usually pretty quite, and responded with chuckles or smiles.
