Shifty shook his head. " No, sir. Wish I did, though. Be nice to write someone other than my folks." he said with a smile.

Shifty nodded. " I did. Her name was Molly. She was the prettiest girl in Virginia, I declare.[/b]" Shift explained, and a smile appeared on his face as he thought about the brunette he had left back in Virginia.

Skinny smirked as he sat on the table beside the two, polishing his gun, although he should had been dulling it. His thoughts were elsewhere, and he wasn't exactly sure what he was doing. He just needed something to do.

Skinny glanced at the medic when he heard his name, and frowned. " I guess. Nothing I can really do about it." he replied, his hand running over his gun as he spoke. His voice was low, from lack of use as well as his nerves. He couldn't deny the fact that he was nervous, he was. But he wasn't going to say it out loud. The last thing they needed was a nervous private. They had enough of those already.

Post by James "Moe" Alley on Jun 17, 2010 2:16:23 GMT -7
Moe couldn't stand the silence. The tension in the room was almost unbearable to the dark haired soldier. The forlorn expressions on some of the men's faces was enough to make any person cry, or at least feel their exhaustion. Nobody was ready for this patrol, and everyone knew it. Sure, they were ready in the sense that they knew how to use their weapons, and execute tactics, things like that. But they weren't emotionally ready. These men were in a fragile state. It was surprising to Moe that many of the men in the room hadn't broken already. " I need a cigarette." the soldier grunted, partly to himself as he pushed himself out of his chair at the crowded table, rummaging around in his pocket for his pack of Lucky Strikes. Cigarettes were like treasure to Moe. If it weren't for them, who knows what would happen.

Hearing his name, Moe glanced up to see a pack of cigarettes flying through the air towards him, and caught them with ease. He knew who had called his name without having to look. Roe's accent was easily identifiable. But Moe nodded the medics way, the way most of the men said thank you nowadays. There wasn't much talking anymore, only glances, nods, grimaces, and sighs. Pulling a stick out of the crinkled pack, Moe put it to his lips and lit the end of it, letting the smoke fill the space around him.

Roe ackownledged the nod and took a glance around the room. He felt out of place at times. He'd seen action same as them but always felt a little out of sync with the men.
